Dear parents/carers,
I hope that you all had a good Easter Break. At ASC we are looking forward to the Summer Term.
Spring Newsletter
I do hope, if you are a parent of a child at the school, that you received the Spring 2012 Newsletter. Children have been involved in so many productions, events, activities and visits and are a real credit to the school and community.
As part of the Global Rock Challenge, 93 students went to Southampton Guildhall to perform their own production, called “The Perfect Nightmare”, winning 6 awards.
Sweeney Todd and the Merry Wives of Windsor productions were also a great success and our students made the most of the Insight into Industry Day and Work Experience, and the memorable Belgium Battlefield trip.
The spring term was also noteworthy for the range of activities and charity events run by our Student Leadership Groups. If you missed the “Raise the Roof” for Naomi House evening of entertainment you missed a real treat.
New Performing Arts Area
The new build Dance Studio and Performing Arts facility is looking splendid and will soon become operational. Children will love it!
GCSEs
We are entering the examination period, which begins with Art. Year 11 and Year 10 students are working hard and we feel very positive about the results that they will achieve as individuals and as Year Groups in 2012 and 2013. As always, we welcome the support of parents in encouraging their children to work hard to build a successful future for themselves.
Enhancement classes are available after school in all subjects.
Youth Sports Trust Silver Partner Status
Congratulations to the PE department on achieving for the school the above award for delivering high quality school sport. We all know that PE and school sport can be a catalyst for young people to live healthy, active lives and we are delighted that the excellent work of the PE department has been recognised through this national award.
Primary School Visits
I am very pleased that so many children and parents have chosen Aldworth Science College as their secondary school. Senior staff have now begun to visit all 16 primary schools from which we receive children, to meet them and to prepare for them to become part of our school community.
The New Intake Evening will be on Tuesday 19th June at 6.30pm.
The Induction Day for children is on Friday 6th July 2012.
We also have Taster Days on Friday 22nd June (other Junior Schools), Tuesday 26th June (Park View), and Thursday 28th June (Kempshott Juniors) for any Year 5 pupils interested in joining us.
