Dear parents/carers,
I am delighted to be back full time at Aldworth Science College after my two terms as Acting Headteacher at The Vyne. I wish you all a very happy 2012.
Options Evening
The Year 9 Options Evening was very well attended and gave students and parents the opportunity to meet staff and to consider the best combination of option subjects based on individual interests, aptitude and career aspirations. This is the beginning of a process. Forms are due in by Thursday 19 January 2012 and all children will have individual interviews this term to discuss and finalise their choices.
Examinations
Students in years 10 and 11 have GCSE exams this term and are responding positively to the challenge by revising thoroughly and making the most of after school enhancement classes.
Holidays in term time
A reminder that I am unable to authorise holidays in term time for any student, except in very exceptional circumstances - very good attendance is vital if students are to succeed in their learning.
Uniform
Please help the school by ensuring that coats, scarves and gloves are plain black or navy and a reminder that girls are not allowed to wear boots or ankle boots. The weather so far has been very mild for the season and hopefully this will continue.
New Build
The construction of the new Performing Arts studio is proceeding well and we hope to have it completed by February half term. We have been extremely lucky that the Local Authority continues to invest substantially in the school.
